magentaLABIdeaDots Privacy Policy
IdeaDots is a memo app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, designed so that your memos stay with you: on your devices and in your own iCloud. It has no accounts, no sign-in and no servers of its own, and magentaLAB does not collect, store or sell your memos or personal information.
1. Your memos and files
- Everything you write in IdeaDots (memos, Dots, tasks, sections, alarms, colors, attached photos and files) is stored on your device, in the app's private storage.
- iCloud sync: when Sync with iCloud is on (on by default on iPhone and iPad when the device is signed in to iCloud; off until you turn it on on the Mac), the same data is also stored in your own iCloud account, in the app's private database in Apple CloudKit, so your devices stay in step. Memo text, titles and tags are stored as Apple's end-to-end encrypted fields that only your devices can read; other data (such as group names, colors, order and attached files) is protected by iCloud's standard encryption. Your iCloud data is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy and counts toward your iCloud storage.
- magentaLAB has no access to your data on your device or in your iCloud. We run no server that receives it.
- It is included in your device backups (iCloud Backup, Finder backups, Time Machine) according to your system settings.
2. Data we do not collect
IdeaDots uses no analytics, tracking or profiling tools and does not ask to track you across apps and websites (App Tracking Transparency). We receive no usage statistics. If you choose to share crash data and analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple provides aggregated reports under Apple's privacy policy.
3. Features that contact other services
These features run only when you use them.

4. Advertising (free version on iPhone and iPad)
- The free version on iPhone and iPad shows banner ads from Google AdMob. The Mac app shows no third-party ads and contains no advertising SDK. IdeaDots+ removes ads on all your devices with the same Apple ID.
- IdeaDots requests non-personalized ads only: ads are not based on your past behavior. Google may still use device identifiers and similar technologies for frequency capping, aggregated ad reporting, and to combat fraud and abuse.
- IdeaDots does not request permission to track you, so the device's advertising identifier is not available for tracking.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: Google's consent message asks for your choice before ads are requested. You may refuse, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & legal → Privacy options.
- How Google uses data: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and the Google Privacy Policy.
- We receive only aggregated reports from Google (for example, the number of ads shown), never information that identifies you.

These services process data under their own privacy policies. We only use services that are expected to protect your data at least as well as described here, and we do not share your data with anyone else.
6. Keeping and deleting your data
- Your data stays on your device, and in your iCloud while sync is on, until you delete it.
- Delete everything: Settings → Storage & Sync → Delete all IdeaDots data removes all groups, memos, files and the trash from the device and, with iCloud sync on, from your iCloud and your other devices. Deleting the app deletes the data on that device (unless it is in a backup) but not the iCloud copy.
- iCloud copy: when you turn off Sync with iCloud you can delete the IdeaDots data in iCloud at the same time, or later in your device's iCloud storage settings (Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage).
- Trash: deleted groups stay in the trash for 30 days, then are deleted automatically.
- Export: Settings → Storage & Sync → Export all saves your memos (Markdown) and files.
- Ad consent: change or withdraw it in Settings → Privacy & legal → Privacy options (EEA, UK, Switzerland). Requests about data held by Google go to Google.

7. Children
IdeaDots is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). Ads are non-personalized.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EEA and the UK, or Korea's Personal Information Protection Act), you have rights to access, correct and delete personal data and to object to its processing. Since IdeaDots keeps your data on your devices and in your own iCloud and we hold none, you can exercise these rights directly in the app (export, delete) and with the services listed above. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date, and important changes will be mentioned in the app's update notes.
